here we are

here we are. hello everyone.

i’m irdi, a non-eu student in the netherlands. i’m currently in debt by around 20k, and i’m hustling with different ideas while building in public.

for six months i worked a real dev job next to my third year of bachelors. full responsibilities, real production work, for about half the dutch minimumloon. in true dutch fashion, let me be direct: that is not normaal. but it was the deal i took: industry experience while still a student. i got the experience. in september i left.

a great decision for my soul. not a good one for my bank account.

the rule

i ship and build things until they start paying up.

i build it, i put it out, and it will all be public, here and on x. i do love failing audaciously.

what i’m building right now

six-systems. a hospital has every file about a patient, but a computer can’t read half of them. faxes. pdfs. a photo of a screen, somehow. my friend danilo and i built a fake hospital with fake patients to measure it. 56% of the data arrived usable. with our fix: 96%. all synthetic data, no real patients were harmed. see it here.

a legal assistant for albanian lawyers. just something i have handy at the moment.

why “spinlock”

a spinlock is a lock that spins in a loop until it’s free. that’s me. spinning until i’m debt-free.

the banner on my x says while (debt > 0) ship();. this loop is quite inefficient and bad design. relatable though.

the scoreboard

€20,000 left. 0% paid.

the tracker at the top of the home page updates every time i pay something off. check back. i’ll try not to make it embarrassing.

follow along on x.

and a question for you: if you had to pay off 20k with code, what would you build?
